There he visits a local mental health clinic trying to get remedies from insomnia. Everything seemed to be okay but… But one day he meets a nurse who looks like his lost wife. Inspiration and creative skills come back to Alan. He starts to write his new novel. Happy end? Wait a minute. In a few days handwriting disappears to Wake’s horror. First he did not pay much attention to that as his talent flourished and his dreams about monsters, ghosts and other undead creations did not stop. But one day he realizes the horrors he sees are not dreams at all.
So beginning impresses. We have plenty of questions we want them to be answered right now. Of course the interest is so high due to elements of mystic the storyline oozes with. First of all how to play? It’s a good question. If the plot is quite clear the gameplay makes us to ask a lot of questions.
Developers do not hurry to answer them but still some information about it is available in the web. We will have an open city in Alan Wake like it was in GTA and we will be able both walk and go using some kind of public transport. Although developers promise to create unlined gameplay don’t wait for something extremely unusual.
Writer-psychopath
There will be missions in any case. By day we will have to solve the quests like talks with NPC, evidence collection and so on. We should waste time for that to find out what happens at night. By the way Alan Wake is perfect detective. But time runs quickly and night’s coming is inevitable. And at night the game turns to extremely dynamic action. All the nightmares of Mr. Wake come true and we have to save our lives.
Developers say it won’t be much weapons in the game – just an old revolver and a flashlight which is fashionable now. The light it gives frightens away monsters. But Remedy staked not on flashlights but on interactive surrounding. So we will have to protect us from monsters with everything we can find around us instead of ceaseless monsters killing. So personally I have strong feeling that nights in the game will be survival horror not action. Adrenalin will be the main component of night combats in the game.
I must admit that developers made very nice décor for the mess we will participate in this game. Remote town Bright Falls surrounded by mountains and vast majestically forests properly matches the atmosphere of the game. You will feel completely isolated and pepped out. Your nightmares will always be with you. Besides weather will constantly change – first we see clouds in the sky, then it will rain cats and dogs and in a few minutes we will enjoy rainbow and forest covered with mist. So I have no doubts the atmosphere in Alan Wake will be appropriate. Developers do know what they do.
Too original
As you can see Remedy is making its new hit. It will be extremely original and interesting project. So you’d better to wait for it. Games like that do not appear every day.
