Crysis First herds of tusky mutants now meteorite and attack from outer space. It seems to me that Crytek employees are not so kind guys they used to look. Why are they so martial why do they think out another assault for humanity always instead of be champions for the peace?
Why are the aliens always hostile and why do they need our poor planet we can easily destroy without any help? OK, OK, I’m just kidding. Nobody is interested in this kind of pacifism. Everybody waits with great impatience for the new opportunity to fight against space invaders for our Earth. So be aware! They are going to attack us again. So pack your suitcases – we go to the China Sea. Do not take any cameras or beer. We’re not going to have entertaining trip – Crysis is coming soon.
From the history of Crytek
Nextgen, nextgen, nextgen... What do these words mean for the gamers? Practically nothing. All the best projects are made for consolers now. Consolers enjoy even the hits like UT2007 earlier than we do. PC-users don’t get exclusive titles now. That is to say they did not get them. Wild horses couldn’t drag new information from Crytek developers till they shocked public with the recent advertisement.
New miracle seems to happen this time. If we are talking about “born geniuses” of the game industry we mention Crytek first. Their first project had outstanding success and helped them to become one of the main players in the industry. It was in 2004 when the games like Doom 3 and Halflife 2 were unknown and new breakthrough in the industry was anticipated not earlier than their release was arranged. But still breakthrough came suddenly and was affected by the new game titled FarCry.
This masterpiece from Germany shocked gamers at once. The gameplay was unbelievably fresh and original. It made you feel absolutely free and was extremely innovating. And visual effects were amazing. Some people liked them so much that they passed some levels again and again. History of Crytek began from the enthusiasm for computer games and desire to create the new ones.
The foundators of the company start to make new games when they were college students. Their first project was technical demo X-Isle. That was perfect means for the young company to declare about its existence. The developers didn’t speak English and were unknown but they were lucky enough to be noticed. After that they signed contract about developing of Far Cry… That was a start…
Crysis as it is
It’s 2006, that is to say nowadays. We look at the monitor with amazement and see jungles, soft sunshine, ground covered with dry wood and grey stones. It looks like photo from nature magazine like “National Geographic” or something like that. The cut-line says “Crysis, new project by Crytek, screenshot ¹…”. It’s a shock.
So it’s 2019. The situation in the world did not change remarkably in comparison with our days. Suddenly big meteorite falls to one of the islands of the China Sea. Northern Korea reacts the first. It occupies the island. The United States decide to send special detachment to gather the information about the meteorite and island and come back to Motherland. The Koreans dislike it and conflict begins. Then it turns into fight which was stopped suddenly because there is a spaceship with aliens in the meteorite and those representatives of extraterrestrial civilizations decided to attack.

They spread some “sphere” that damages nature and kills people over the island. The most soldiers perish at once all the other become target for the aliens. So both Koreans and Americans decide to unite and struggle for their lives together. They succeed to reach the main cell of the aliens where final battle takes place. Every journalist who will write about Crysis will notice that this game has no connection with Far Cry and is no its sequel in any case.
As developers themselves say they did not like their first game very much so they tried to correct mistakes in absolutely new project. So why is Crysis so unique? The main trump of FarCry was its open gameplay and player had enormous island where he could do whatever he wanted. Bla-bla-bla. You know all that very good. So it won’t be levels in Crysys. Consol system of save will be absent too. Check point is dead, vivat quicksave!
As for entertainment component I should say that it was very interesting to play Far Cry during the first part of its plot. When mutants appeared tactics became useless because action began. It will be all different in Crysis due to artificial intellect of the aliens. They are perfect team players, they are good in decision making according to current situation and they can change tactics depending on the weapons their adversaries use.
And by the way their behavior will be more natural so players will have choice – heroically die under tracks of the tank or hide in bushes and wait. Everything is fair. “Modernization” is the motto of all the styles of the game. First of all it concerns weapons. “Machine-gun is a weapon that shoots with cartridges for machine-guns” – this is what most of us know about it. “Machine-gun is a weapon that can shoot with cartridges for machine-guns, somnific cartridges, tactic cartridges.
