Excellent textures of characters were much improved, interface became more detailed and animation of heroes was enriched with new motions and emotions. «Guild Wars» actually remains “the most beautiful on-line RPG”. And that’s only exterior.
Several hundreds of spells remarkably change balance, introducing innovations into gameplay. Skills bild creation looks like elegante’s rushing about on the eve of party now. The choice is extremely wide.
The same thing is with weapons and equipment. By the way you should be careful choosing them because after getting the 20th level you can develop your skills only with your equipment and runes. It’s important not to forget about two new specializations. Assassin and ritualist were added to warrior, monk, elementalist, necromant, ranger and mesmer. As combination of classes didn’t disappear diversity of variants allows you to make hero on your own taste.
Some details about new classes.
Assassins are wonderful fighters. Shadow techniques allow them break through enemy lines almost without damage and terminate enemy’s monk or magus with combo-attack just in a few seconds. But weak armor make Assassin vulnerable. Actually this is unit for exchange. This class is complicated but efficient on the battlefield. If used by the skillful player, of course.
Ritualists or shamans are the golden mean among magi. They have both medical and attack spells so they have enough power to protect themselves. Raising different ghosts they harm enemies or support allies. But monks cure better and elementalists beat stronger so Ritualist is actually support-class.
But your fighter can’t survive solo whatever skills he had. Guild Wars is team game.
There are some changes and additions in the system of missions.
Plots have no bonus quests now. Passing ratings appeared instead. There are standard, master and expert ratings. The faster and better mission is completed the more experience and «faction point» you get. But these innovations are not the main ones. Some quests are to be fulfilled by two teams of fighters simultaneously from two ends of map. And one team’s fate depends on the actions of another team. Defeat is common.
And when you will be suggested to choose one of the parts of the old conflict between the Kurzuks and the Lucsons, you may participate in pvp-missions. Assaults and sieges of manors, large battles for border outposts, mutual elimination on water and in the forests – entertainment is endless like feud of two peoples.
What to do when plot is over? That’s all? No!
People fight day and night. Fight for entertainment, for better place in rating and so on – and this fight has no end. Of course it has no end. As a matter of fact player-vs-player mode is a basis of Guild Wars. Ideal balance, wide choice of skills and equipment won’t make you bored.

It was difficult to imagine Guild Wars to be better than in original. Frankly speaking there were some misgivings about developers’ work quality. But fortunately everything is OK. “Factions” is much better than its ancestor whose ideas were developed and improved.
Besides the next part of the game – Nightfall- was announced to appear at the end of October. I don’t know what improvements Guild Wars will contain this time but I feel some anticipation.
This is anticipation of miracle.
